Social prescribers can issue foodbank vouchers
Social prescribers help Lakeside patients get the wellbeing support they need by signposting them to local branches of the foodbank.
Sam Hubbard and Rebecca Kenrick from Oundle and their colleagues from Stamford can issue electronic vouchers which can be redeemed for a 3-day emergency food and essential toiletries parcel from Stamford and Oundle Foodbank.
Sam said: ‘Rebecca and I recently visited the Methodist Church in Oundle who facilitate the Food bank on a Tuesday afternoon. We received a very warm welcome. They also have a representative from Citizens Advice Bureau that attends to support visitors with housing and financial issues. We were given a tour of how the process works from the moment the client walks in, to the discussion and to 'picking' the goods.
We have issued a few vouchers for the foodbank. Recently, it supported a patient who needed formula and nappies so they certainly have a variety of goods to support a diverse population.‘
