Social prescribers in Kettering, Corby and Oundle will be holding drop-in sessions on National Social Prescribers Day on Thursday 9 March 2023.

Theirs is a relatively new role in healthcare, helping with a range of non-clinical issues, from isolation, loneliness, weight-loss, fitness or finance and housing problems. They work in conjunction with clinical staff and empower clients by providing longer-term support and strategies.

Patients say:

  • ‘She was kind and empathetic and helped me to understand my situation. She was so easy to talk to and knowing she was in contact with me on a regular basis helped me to set goals and renew the hobbies I loved.’
  • ‘My SPLW helped me through a difficult time and helped get other services involved in my physical and mental wellbeing.’
  • ‘It was very good talking to her, she was very professional and helpful. Thanks.’

There will be a member of our social prescribing team at Oundle, Cottingham Road and Headlands Surgeries from 9.30 to 2.30pm on Thursday 9 March 2023, so you can drop in and find out more about their role and how they can help.

Katie Clark, Primary Care Network Operations Manager, who oversees the social prescribing teams, said:

‘It is great to recognise the work of our social carers with a National Awareness Day. They all work really hard and bring a huge amount of skills and professionalism to the role.’
