Group Lead Nurse nominated for Women in Tech Excellence Awards

Kerry Gardner

Congratulations to our Group Lead Nurse, Kerry Gardner, who is a finalist in the Women in Tech Excellence Awards.

Kerry was instrumental in rolling out the Doctrin consultation platform to the majority of our practices, acting as its advocate and helping our teams to embed a new way of working.

Lakeside Healthcare was the first partnership of GP practices in the UK to adopt the Swedish platform, and Kerry spent a great deal of time as part of the implementation team making sure that it was adapted for the UK market.

She said: ‘It was new territory and so my role was about engaging our nurses, AHP staff and PCN additional roles, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social prescribers. They have been really keen to be part of this and use Doctrin to its full potential.

‘Any change to working practices can be daunting and so if you can demonstrate the benefits; such as getting a huge amount of relevant information prior to the consultation, it informs the process and leads to a better patient journey.

'It is about flying the flag, not only for women in technology, but also in nursing and Lakeside as well. We are ahead of the curve and our patients love it. There have been four million consultations across Scandinavia and nearly 65,000 just within Lakeside with really good patient satisfaction ratings. If we have happier patients then we have happier staff.’

Good luck to Kerry, both at the awards scheme later this year and  in her new role as Chief Nurse for Doctrin UK, where she will continue to refine and develop the platform, working on the clinical content, for the benefit of both Lakeside and new patients in the UK, as Doctrin is adopted at other practices.
